Roopa and Bina are on deck at Jas’s party sneaking a couple of beers when Jai comes up the canal path and spots Roopa. Jas lets him know in no uncertain terms he’s not invited. Ignoring her Jai hands over Jas’s present, saying it might give her some breathing space. Jas is disgusted when she sees it’s a blank cheque; money can’t make up for things. Jai reckons he did Jas a favour what with Imran’s murky past! Jas rips up the cheque and tells her Uncle to take his stinking money. She puts Jai straight about the damage he did; how the stress affected Roopa so badly she ended up in hospital with bulimia. Jai realises he’s getting nowhere and beats a hasty retreat.
Roopa and Bina corner Kuljit about their new band. Kuljit’s had a few beers and tries to impress the girls, agreeing to produce them. Jas thanks Jodie for the party, it’s just a shame Imran couldn’t be there. Jodie has a brainwave. Imran can’t come to the party, so the party will go to him. Jas thinks it must be brilliant living on a barge, being able to take off whenever you want. Jodie lists all the bad points but Jas isn’t put off. Jodie has another brainwave and offers to rent Jas the barge as sanctuary from family stress. Jas jumps at the chance.
As they moor up Imran comes out hearing the commotion. He’s overjoyed and jumps aboard giving Jas a big hug. Vinnie watches the pair jealously. It’s clear Imran’s already drunk as he gets straight into the party spirit. Vinnie takes Jas to one side and tells her about seeing Imran in Silver Street. Shocked, Jas swears Vinnie to secrecy and goes to chat to Jodie. They watch the party games and comment how not long ago Sway would have been in the middle of it, instead of going home for an early night. Jodie is stunned when Jas casually mentions what Nadia said about missing the old Sway. Jas wanders back to Vinnie. She teases him about being jealous of Imran and assures him they are only friends. Vinnie seizes his opportunity and gives Jas something she hasn’t had all night, a birthday kiss!
