Rita suggests Mary looks tired. Mary says it’s the stress of the boxing gym closing being auctioned off. Mary then asks Rita how work is. Rita says she is looking into different areas of interpreting – maybe working with children. Mary comments everyone seems to be experiencing changes these days.
Simran asks how things are developing with Kuls. Jodie says it’s going well so far. They discuss the situation between Kuls and Sway. Jodie says it’s still fragile and blames religion. Simran says that’s easy for her to say with her liberal upbringing but it’s important to some. Jodie suggests the Akhtars have backed Sway into a corner about converting so that they can accept him and it shouldn’t work like that. Simran thinks they should respect people’s beliefs even if they don’t agree with them. Jodie suggests Simran has misunderstood her.
Rita tells Pradeep she had a message saying Nalini has given birth. Rita isn’t sure whether she should send a card after what happened with the siege. Pradeep is more interested in why Jas has had a change of heart about journalism. Rita reminds him that Jas will only dig her heels in more if they hound her about it. Rita then decides she won’t send a card after all because she needs to maintain a professional distance. Pradeep wonders if Jas might want to move back home to keep her living costs down. Rita says she’ll speak to her.
Brian wonders what Pete will do now the gym has gone. What about becoming a personal trainer in one of those posh gums in town? Pete wants to steer clear of gyms but Brian thinks he could make money out of it. They are interrupted by the phone ringing. It’s Siobhan calling to see how Pete is and to say she is visiting with Hannah. Brian thinks that’s great besides Pete needs all the support he can get right now. Later Pete tells Mary and Brian the thought of going to the auction is filling him with dread. Brian suggests he and Mary can go instead. Pete says his only hope now is that the place doesn’t go for lower than the guide price. If it does he has no idea how they are going to cope…..
