Have your say
Kuljit and Sway prepare the Parkside Centre for the ‘Beyond the Sofa’, activity week. Kuljit’s going to be running music sessions with Arun, Simran’s running a beauty workshop and even Shazia Malik will be making a speech.
Imran starts to get stir crazy cooped up in the house. Mushtaq won’t even let him answer the front door when Mani calls, in case it’s a journalist. When they are alone Imran asks Mani if he’ll bring him some alcohol, he needs a way of chilling out. Mani refuses, reluctant to go behind Mushtaq’s back. Imran doesn’t get chance to try and twist his arm as Mushtaq appears with some tea. Imran’s keen to escape his dad’s over-protectiveness and persuades them both to go to the Parkside event.
At the Parkside Centre Sway opens ‘Beyond the Sofa’ by introducing Shazia Malik. Gary and his mates heckle them, getting things off to a good start. As the speeches end, Mani and Mushtaq make an appearance and sign themselves up for a pool competition. Gary and his mates spot Mushtaq and start making veiled threats before Sway warns them off. Mushtaq ignores them and goes to thank Shazia for her help in upping the local police presence.
Gary and his mates get impatient with Arun’s demo, they just want to get on the decks and have a go. Kuljit tries to get them to bond as a group by introducing themselves with a fact that nobody knows about them. Gary starts it off, announcing ‘I’m Gary, and I’m an alcoholic’ This amuses his mates no end but they soon get bored again. Kuljit tries to talk them into staying, they’ll be able to have a go tomorrow. This falls on deaf ears though as they walk out leaving Kuljit wondering if this activity week was a good idea….
