Sean calls Mary to say Happy Birthday. She later tells Bill she wishes he would move back home. Bill tries to cheer her up with a special breakfast. Mary opens her cards and is pleased to see Brian didn’t forget. Mary is less pleased however to see one from Siobhan. Bill thinks it could be genuine but Mary tears it up.
Roopa wants to discuss her own birthday. Pradeep confirms the restaurant is all set for her first dinner party. Rita is surprised when Roopa says she’d like to go to a theme park with just the family too. Once Roopa leaves her parents discuss how much better she is now but Rita says she does feel guilty about Jas moving out. Pradeep reckons it will be good for her.
Pete goes to see Simran who asks why he hasn’t been over for a while. Pete uses the boxing gym as an excuse. Jaggy takes Kesar out so that they can have some time alone. Simran assures Pete he can pop over whenever he wants even though it’s Jaggy’s place. Jodie turns up and Pete makes a hasty exit. Jodie reckons he is finding this set up of Simran living with her ex a bit weird. Simran reckons the insurance company should find her somewhere else to live soon.
Rita gets an unexpected visit from Bill who needs some confidential advice. There was a comment Mary made about Siobhan just before Christmas and it’s been bothering him. He is seeing Mary in a whole new light and isn’t sure he likes what he sees anymore.
Later at the restaurant Bill tells Mary that Rita is upset about Mary’s cold shoulder treatment. Mary is adamant Rita was in the wrong siding with Siobhan like that. Bill then tells her Sean feels torn too but again Mary blames Siobhan. Bill brings up the comment that has been troubling him and Mary decides she has had enough. She thought this was a birthday treat not a lynching party. She coldly thanks him for the meal and walks out…..
