Kamla and Roopa reminisce about celebrating Vasant Panchami when Uncle Jai was around. Roopa wonders if he’ll turn up again on her birthday like he did before. Kamla is reminded it will be her grand-daughter’s sixteenth next week and on a whim she hands Roopa a beautiful ruby bracelet from her jewelry box as an early gift. Rita can’t believe how quickly her daughter is growing up. She tells Roopa it’s about time she had a room of her own again. Jas only came home to keep an eye on her so she won’t need much persuading to move back out.
Bina is excited to hear Roopa is getting her own room back, now she’ll be able to sneak boys in! Roopa laughs, like that’s going to happen! Still it’s about time they thought about inviting some boys to Roopa’s party. Bina suggests there might be some cute guys at Roopa’s drama-therapy group reminding Roopa how nervous she is about the upcoming session.
Simran’s brush with death has given her father a wake up call and he’s come to visit her along with Surinder. Simran is pleased to see him but it’s an awkward visit. Simran tries to interest Pritam in Kesar but it’s clear that he’d rather not hear. Things don’t improve when Simran tells her parents that Jaggy is taking Kesar home.
Meanwhile Jaggy is busy sorting out the paperwork so he can take Kesar home. The nurse assumes that Jaggy and Simran are married and chats to him about a similar case she dealt with recently. Sadly, the mother died and because the baby’s father wasn’t named on the birth certificate he had all kinds of problems getting custody. Jaggy suddenly realises he’s never even seen Kesar’s birth certificate….did Simran name him as the father?
