Mushtaq thanks Sameer for all of his support. Sameer drives Imran to the Police Station. Meanwhile, Shazia rings Mushtaq to let him know he is in her thoughts. Mushtaq can barely speak. Shazia tells him to be prepared, it may go public but Mushtaq breaks down, he can’t even help his own son.
DI Tanner formally charges Imran for the murder of Michael Paul Reynolds. Imran is shaken and just asks for water.
Sameer rings Mushtaq with the bad news who says they will be at the Magistrates Court that afternoon to support him.
Liz Walters prepares Imran and makes sure he has half of her sandwich, she doesn’t want him collapsing, she’s seen it too many times. She wants him to plead not guilty. Imran believes he is guilty and he deserves to be punished but Liz warns him, enough of the ‘murder’ word, he is paying her for advice, he needs to take it. Sameer says he must plead not guilty, he was 15 and defending himself against an attacker with a knife. Liz believes if he pleads guilty, there is nothing she can do, he will go to prison.
Gary and Dawn arrive in Court and DI Tanner tells him he was worried on how they’d react once they’d found out who had done it from his gran, Gary says she didn’t hear, she’s half deaf. DI Tanner tells them. Gary trusted Imran.
In Court, Gary and Dawn scream at Imran and the Magistrate threatens to throw them out. To Sameer’s relief, Imran pleads not guilty.
Imran is allowed bail, he must report to the police station everyday. Liz advices Mushtaq to get Zenab in the car first, the press are waiting outside. Sameer rings his parents as it’ll be all over the news tonight and soon everyone will know.
