Have your say
At the Police Station DI Tanner grills a tired and grouchy Imran. He has explained everything about how Mickey came at him with a knife, they struggled and he got stabbed. The solicitor Liz Walters tries to intervene saying it’s clear that Imran was acting in self defence. He’s confessing to the murder but DI Tanner thinks there is something that he’s not telling them. All he was doing was taking a shortcut through the allotments as he was coming back from Murad’s house.
At the Jilani house, Rozena hopes all this won’t make Mushtaq ill, it has come as a shock to him and it’s all her fault. Sameer warns them that they have to stick together.
Liz warns Imran, there best not be inconsistencies in his story, she believes him though. The next step will be for Forensics to dig up evidence and get blood samples from clothes. Imran gets worried as he’s not mentioned Rozena. She explains that the Police may consider bail if they decide there is enough evidence to charge him, then it’ll be to the Magistrates court where he will plead, maybe he will get away with mitigating circumstances because of his age at the time of the attack.
Rozena hugs Sameer in the garden, she’s scared that the police will come for her at any minute. Sameer reckons he should pack a bag too as he’s withheld knowledge of a crime.
Imran is getting agitated as DI Tanner suggests he took the knife when he went to meet Mickey for a pre-arranged fight. They release Imran on bail under the proviso that he surrenders his passport and lives with his parents away from Silver Street.
Imran arrives home and Sameer tells Rozena that he seems calmer. Rozena wants to know why he confessed, now she will be dragged through it. Imran says it was destroying him inside but he didn’t mention her. She is relieved and upset, he’s thrown his own life away now.
