When Nadia tells her mum she needs to talk to them Khatija can barely contain her excitement, this is the news they’ve been waiting for. Khatija shouts Pervaiz, and tells Nadia how proud she’ll be. Nadia tries to cut in but Khatija stops her, she wants Pervaiz to hear this great news with her.
When Pervaiz comes downstairs Khatija gets straight to the point…… has Arshad proposed? Nadia confesses he has. Khatija is beside herself, praising Allah. Nadia cuts Pervaiz’s congratulations short though, telling them she’s refused the proposal. There’s a stunned silence. When Khatija manages to speak it’s a barrage of questions. Why? How will they face the Siddiquis? Where will they find another boy like Arshad?
Nadia silences them again, blurting out that she’s in love with someone else….Sway. They can’t take it in, there must be some mistake! Suddenly, shock turns to anger and Khatija is shouting terrible things, calling Nadia a cheap whore. Hearing the commotion Kamal rushes in, only to see Khatija slap Nadia soundly. Kamal jumps in to protect Nadia and is rewarded by Khatija’s nasty retort. ‘Even Kamal would be better than Sway; at least he’s a Muslim’
Kamal phones Zak begging him to come home straight away. Zak shouts to Arun he’s got to go, closely followed by Jas, leaving Arun wondering why everyone is deserting him on his 18th. At that moment though Mindy walks in and Arun forgets everything else as she gives him a long birthday kiss.
Sway can hear the shouting from outside and is worried for Nadia. Kamla has also heard the racket unfortunately and bangs on the Akhtars’ door threatening to call the police. Sway talks her out of it and urges her home. At that moment Zak arrives and rushes in but unaware of the situation he drags Sway into the lions den as back up!
