Mindy manages to ‘bump into’ Arun and tells him how amazing his set for Diwali was. Arun’s slightly embarrassed by her enthusiasm but secretly pleased; he invites her to hear some more of the same at his eighteenth party next week.
Eid over in the Hussaini house is tense with Rozena and Sameer playing the happy couple and pretending everything is fine in front of Tara and Arif. Sameer takes Rozena to one side to thank her for making Eid a happy occasion for his parents and tells her that he’ll move into a hotel that night. Rozena should move back to the flat. If anyone see’s she’s living at her old house the gossip will be all over Silver Street within minutes. Rozena agrees he’s probably right.
Khatija has been getting ready for their visit to Arshad’s parents since four o’clock. Nadia and Pervaiz are confused; they’re not due until seven! Khatija carries on regardless; she’s determined to make a good impression. And she’s not disappointed when they arrive at the Siddiqui’s house. It’s even more impressive than they’d imagined. Arshad’s parents welcome them in and the evening is a great success. Arshad’s mum, Parveen has cooked up a storm and his father Ilyas can’t wait to show Pervaiz his potting shed. At the end of the evening Parveen confides in Khatija that she expects Arshad to propose to Nadia very soon. As the Akhtars walk home Pervaiz embarrasses Nadia as he waxes lyrical about all Arshad’s wonderful qualities, he couldn’t wish for a better son in law. Nadia is shocked to see Pervaiz has become so emotional, shedding a few tears of happiness and pride for Nadia.
