Shazia has pulled out all the stops for Danyal's party. Wahid tells her she looks fabulous, but then ruins it for Shazia by telling her she looks better now she's put a bit of weight on and that Akram's second wife Farah is far too skinny. They arrive to find the party in full swing. Akram and Farah welcome them. As they all chat it's obvious to Shazia that her sons have a great relationship with their stepmother and can't help feeling a little shut out. Danyal is thrilled with Shazia's present of a photo album filled with old family pictures. Wahid wants to take a photo of the family and as they line up Danyal calls Farah over to stand next to him. Sensitive to Shazia's feelings, Farah refuses but Shazia feels obliged to ask her to join them.
Finding the evening difficult, Shazia finds a quiet corner and phones Mushtaq who manages to say just the right thing to make her feel better. Caught off guard Shazia blurts out that she loves him. Mushtaq can't believe he heard correctly and Shazia quickly changes the subject.
Pete and Simran are having a night in with a DVD but Simran is still seething over her row with Jaggy. Pete gives up on the film and tries to distract her by kissing her instead but Kesar starts crying and puts an end to that. When Simran has settled Kesar they take up where they left off. Pete suggests going out at the weekend and asks if Jaggy could baby-sit. Simran won't hear of it though, Jaggy might have his druggy mates round and anything could happen. Pete gently tries to persuade her to speak to Jaggy but Simran thinks he's just trying to get rid of Kesar and doesn't care who he's with as long as he gets what he wants from Simran. Angry, Simran unceremoniously throws Pete out the flat and chucks his DVD after him....as far as she's concerned, Kesar comes first and always will.
