Elsewhere Sean tells Mary he can't believe he is going to have to stand up in court as a witness. Mary reminds him he has done nothing wrong but Sean is worried they'll bring up his own past. Sean must tell the truth and they'll all be there to support him.
Rita and Pradeep are out celebrating his birthday. Wahid and Shazia are dining in the same restaurant and come over to say hello. Rita still can't forgive the doctor for keeping Roopa's bulimia from them and isn't over friendly. Pradeep doesn't want it to ruin their evening. They discuss Roopa's therapy sessions and Rita wonders if she talks about them. It would be great if they could meet the therapist themselves. No-one thinks that the parents might feel left out.
Shazia tells Wahid how her ex-husband has arranged a flash boat party for Danyal's 21 st birthday and that she isn't looking forward to going at all. Wahid reckons that is definitely Akram - all flash clothes and big gestures. Wahid thinks Shazia is slightly overreacting. Akram is the boy's father after all. Besides she should see it as an opportunity to show off her handsome date. Shazia is puzzled and Wahid responds by saying 'me of course'
