Its Rita and Pradeep's 21 st wedding anniversary and they blow out the candles on the cake that Jas has made for them despite her not being there.
Zak finds Kamal at the canalside, he's just cleared out some dead woman's house, it was depressing work. He talks about how long it has been since he saw his family, he feels so useless and is always worrying about them, cash in hand jobs are so badly paid. Zak gets angry and says that it's all down to America and them going into Afghanistan and destroying it. Kamal says there's no point in getting annoyed about it as where do you start with it all, he has to deal with reality. Zak reckons unless you can understand the problem, how can you fix it? Kamal believes he's powerless and he has to swallow his ideals in order to survive.
At the bowling alley, Pradeep drops the ball on his foot. Rita talks about the academic year and Krishan bursts into tears, saying he doesn't want to go to Heatherton Grammar as it's a boy's school and he'll never get a girlfriend there. Arun told him girls hate Heatherton boys as they're all geeks and freaks. Rita shouts at Arun for getting Krishan into that state and Roopa shouts at Arun too accusing him of being insensitive, putting things in his head and bullying him. Arun accuses her of ignoring him because she's wrapped up in her own head. Rita tells Krishan to stop crying and Roopa shouts at her mum for shouting at Krishan.
Kenny rings Kamal, has he thought about his offer? He explains that prison is like a training camp, putting people who have made a mistake against really vicious people, its not place for his son. Kamal relents, he will take the £25,000. Kenny is surprised saying it's a good decision. He wants him to call him and they will arrange a time and a place for the exchange. He hopes he's not going to change his mind. Kamal says he won't.
