Jodie is on the phone to Mani. It's the anniversary of her Mum's (Stella's) death and Mani is going to light a candle for her at the temple in Kerala. Jodie has been clearing out her old clothes for charity which is something Stella used to do, but apart from that she isn't sure how to mark the day. She doesn't want to go back to Newcastle so Neel suggests they have a picnic - something else Stella liked to do. They can even have it in the garden...
Nadia, Zak and Kamal are waiting to go into the detention centre to see Zuber. Kamal's still worried Zuber will blame him for everything and nothing Zak and Nadia can say will convince him otherwise. Finally it's their turn to go through security. Zak gets stroppy when the officer searches him and becomes even angrier when they get inside and see how Zuber is locked up.
Over their picnic food, Jodie tells Neel what it was like to grow up in a commune. Neel nips inside to fetch one last thing and comes back outside with a tree! He thought they could plant it as a memorial to Stella. Neel plants the tree while Jimi Hendrix (one of Stella's favourites) plays on the stereo, and Jodie tells Neel he's made the day perfect...
Back at the detention centre, Kamal doesn't get the reception he'd hoped for from Zuber, who blames Kamal for his arrest: if Kamal hadn't been chasing women and going to clubs he would still be free. Zak thinks he has a right to be angry but at the authorities rather than Kamal. However, Kamal won't be comforted - Zuber is right, it's his fault Zuber and his family are suffering...
