Bill takes Mary to a country pub for lunch. She is delighted with the change of scenery from being in the Golden Crown where people want to sit there round the clock. Bill tells her the pub is a credit to her and she has respect from the punters. They talk about their children and how they do the best they can and that's all they can do even though kids think they know best.
Pete walks into the Golden Crown with Gary and Saj and buys them a drink for helping out with equipment in the gym. Sean's surprised they didn't steal it. They tease Sean saying he's the criminal. Pete sends Sean to the gym to let off steam.
Mary and Bill are still enjoying a drink together and she observes the prints on the wall and the huge TV. Bill tells her it's a plasma screen, all these mod cons, he prefers the traditional pub. Mary says he always knows the right thing to say.
Sean is with Amrit in the boxing gym and realises he may be punching the bag too hard. Sean is in a bad mood because his gran wants him to go back to college and he doesn't know what to do. Amrit suggests talking to his parents.
Mary gets back to the Golden Crown and tells Pete about the pub in the country which has a play area for children, a beer garden and a plasma screen. Maybe they should have one in the Golden Crown especially for the football matches and the World Cup.
Sean explains to Amrit that he can't talk to his mum as he doesn't know where she is. Gary and Saj come in again and make fun of Sean again for living with his gran. Sean tells Amrit all his life he's had to pretend he doesn't care but he does, his mum obviously didn't want him. He doesn't even know who his dad is. Amrit suggests trying to find him, Kuljit was successful.
