It's Simran's birthday. There is a card from her mum and Kulwant hands her another one with some chocolates. Kulwant asks if there is anything from Jaggy and is told there isn't. Simran doesn't expect Jaggy to remember this year.
Elsewhere, Rita tells Pradeep that Roopa has a job at the salon. Jas and Arun walk in as Pradeep suggests she won't have time for all her keep fit classes now. Jas wonders if their parents should approve but Pradeep doesn't think it will last anyway - Roopa and hard work!
Nadia pops along to MP Malik's surgery to enquire about Kamal's refugee application. Could the fact that he was hospitalized after the attack improve his chances? MP Malik tells her it doesn't work like that and if they make out Kamal has a medical condition that will make it even more difficult. Nadia has to accept there are some things you can't control. Nadia isn't giving up and asks who she write to at the Home Office.
Jaggy tells Simran that Darren is in court today but will probably plead not guilty and his lawyers will get him off. Kesar starts to cry and Jaggy murmurs something about knowing how his daddy feels. Nadia texts Jas from the courthouse to say Darren has indeed pleaded not guilty. She tells Zak they need to make sure more people turn up to support them at Crown Court next week.
Rita receives a leaflet from college and Pradeep assumes she wants to do another course but makes it sound more like he is worried about her relationship with tutors. Rita says she couldn't afford to go back anyway but so what if she did. She is happy and achieving something for herself at last and Pradeep would just have accept it!
