Krishan lets slip to Roopa that he's arranged to see Ba at the fireworks, and that he needs her help to escape for a while. Later Arun remarks to Rita and Pradeep that he's not very comfortable with being seen at the display with his parents. Pradeep points out that it's normal for him not to want to be with his parents at his age. Rita observes dryly that maybe it's normal at her age too!
Kamla and Jai are shopping, and have bought Krishan's presents for later. Jai asks if Krishan is really expecting him to be at the fireworks too, but she is adamant that it will be fine. They bump into Sean. Kamla says she's tired and is going home, so Jai takes some of her bags. He spots Sean again having some trouble with A.D., and asks him if he knows whether Arun is going to be at the firework display. Sean doesn't know, but Jai is beginning to get cold feet.
Later at the fireworks Roopa and Krishan make an excuse to leave their parents, and they reluctantly let Arun in on the plan too. They go to the meeting point, but Krishan is upset when Ba is late. He can't believe she would let him down.
Meanwhile Kamla is waiting at home for Jai, who hasn't come back. She calls Mary and then the pub, but no one's seen him. At last there's a noise at the door, but she opens it only to find a pile of shopping and a note - Jai has had to attend to some business he can't turn down....
