It's chaos at the Chauhans as they prepare for Diwali. Krishan and Roopa want Rita to feel Kamla's absence, and they mention Ba at every opportunity. But Rita doesn't seem to notice. Roopa suggests to Krishan that this might not be the best timing for their campaign. Later, however, Rita admits to Rajan and Pradeep that she had noticed their remarks, but if Ba has chosen to be apart from her grandchildren on Diwali it's her loss. Pradeep tells her that they must stop dwelling on the past and look to the future and Rita agrees. She has made enough sacrifices for her family.
Meanwhile Kamla is doing her own preparations for Diwali, and in Jai's opinion cooking far too much food! Jai accuses her of taking her anger at Rita out on him, but she says she's upset with him for letting Spike stay the night at Diwali. However when Jai returns to the kitchen after seeing Spike out he finds Kamla in tears, trying to hide the fact that it's really the situation with Rita that's getting to her. But she's determined that if that's the way Rita wants it she's more than happy to be at home with her son. Later she's delighted when Rajan pays a surprise visit, but his stay is disappointingly short when he discovers her attitude towards Rita and Pradeep hasn't changed.
Meanwhile Mushtaq is trying to persuade Zenab to go to the Akhtars for Eid, but she's adamant that she won't go after the way Khatija behaved last week. Mushtaq feels obliged to go, but Zenab doesn't want to have to answer questions about Imran
