At the Chauhans all the children are in Arun's bedroom trying to work out what is going on downstairs. Finally they can stand it no longer and come down just as Jai returns. Uncle Rajan lays straight into him but Jai isn't interested, he only wants to speak to Kamla. Rita taunts Jai that he's the last person Kamla wants to see now she knows the truth. Jai laughs nastily and asks Arun and Jas if they think that children should always tell their parents the truth, how about a son who smokes marijuana or a daughter who sleeps with a Muslim guy. Arun and Jas are horrified, Uncle Rajan decides this is a good time to get Krishan and Roopa out of the house and whisks them off to the Dusshera celebrations in the park leaving the rest of the family to deal with the fallout of Jai's bombshell.
Jai goes to see Kamla in her room, she wants Jai to tell her it's not true, but he can't. At first Kamla is devastated, she can't believe that Jai could be so wicked, he sent his father to an early grave......but gradually as Jai gives his side of the story, he paints himself as the victim. His father only had time for Suresh, Rita turned against him....Rita knew about his secret all along but she wouldn't let him confess even though he wanted to. He tells Kamla the reason Rita made him keep quiet was so she could use it against him, all because she and Pradeep want Kamla's money.....then 'innocently' he slips in that they probably even tried to keep Kamla in the dark about Jas and Imran....
