Rita is called out on a police translating job and arrives at the scene to find Higgins waiting. There has been an arson attack and Rita asks who might have done it. Higgins says they need to talk to the Grandmother who doesn't speak much English hence Rita being here to translate in Gujerati.
They enter the house and ask the grandmother if she has any idea who might have done this but she says no. But then one of the grandchildren says 'What about Deepak?' Rita discovers he is Mrs Nathwani's son in law. Higgins then informs Rita a young Asian man has just been brought in for questioning and they need to go to the station. And Mrs Nathwani is coming too 'to help with their enquiries'.
Back at home, Krishan is telling Pradeep he can't sleep due to the Muslims next door staying up to pray because this is the night their destinies are written. Pradeep explains that Rita has been called out for police work and says her destiny has certainly been written tonight. He wonders how she is getting on.
At the station, Rita asks the young man some questions in Gujerati but he stays quiet. Higgins suggests he is an illegal immigrant. The man finally gives in and tearfully admits he started the fire and confirms he is Deepak. He is married to Mrs Nathwani's youngest daughter and is now worried that they are going to send him back.
Later, Rita asks Higgins why he threatened Deepak with the immigration authorities. She isn't happy with the tactics they used to break his silence but Higgins shows no remorse at all. It got him talking didn't it?
