There is a review of the mela in the paper. Mani and Mary agree that the event was a success. Mani comments on a stall that was outside the official Mela field, occupied by a group of young Muslim men giving out literature - he wonders if they should have been included in the Mela. Mary says the mela is about people getting on and if they're not into that they shouldn't be there . Anyway, what is Mani planning for his birthday tomorrow?
Rita is also reading the review but Kamla is more interested in cooking a dinner for Raksha Bandhan and is disappointed with Rita's ingredients looking like 'packets of dust'. She is off to get some decent spices from Mani.
Elsewhere Mary quizzes Sean about the incident when Yusef got beaten up but then the phone goes dead. Unknown to Mary, Jason has cut it off. An angry Sean flies at him but some other lads intervene. Jason relays a message to Sean. A.D sends his best wishes and has asked Jason to look after him.
Over at Saffron Rays Mani tells Kamla he is considering offering Pradeep a part share in the business. He needs to spend more time with Jodie. Kamla asks if he will be sharing his birthday with her and Mani doesn't seem sure. Jodie is young with her own life - he will just have to be patient.
Over at the pub Mary is visited by Keith who wants to take her out for coffee but she can't go. Keith suggests she persuade her family to help but Mary says they aren't exactly falling over themselves.
Back at the Chauhans, Rita takes a call from India and the caller assumes she is Kamla. They just want to confirm the settlement of her late husband's estate - to the sum of seventy six thousand pounds.....
