Simran wants to show Jaggy her new outfit: after the burglary she had to buy new clothes because everything else seemed tainted. Jaggy is pretty unsympathetic.
The Akhtars are having breakfast. Zak fetches the newspaper and starts to look at the job pages. Out of the blue he announces he's giving up college and getting a job - he's skint. Pervaiz argues with him and says he won't allow it but Zak won't discuss it. He says he's decided and storms out.
Jas goes to find Imran at the Centre and notices a load of carrier bags left outside - for the tsunami appeal. She wants to know why the Centre isn't doing more and Imran gets defensive - has she been talking to Kamla? The Centre itself is desperate for cash and that's the fundraising he's got to think about. The best way they can help those affected by the disaster is to send money, not bags of stuff.
Jaggy calls Tina and gets the answer machine. He hesitates and hangs up without leaving a message. Just then Simran bursts in - she's forgotten her filofax. She grabs it and gives Jaggy a kiss - she doesn't want to take him for granted. After she's gone, Jaggy calls Tina but hangs up again. Later though, Tina rings to say she's back from Goa and dying to see him - they have a lot of catching up to do. Then Simran rings straight after her to say she's got her first meeting at the bank.
Back at the Akhtars, Pervaiz is distraught at Zak's news: why is he such a bad father? Khatija tells him he has to let it go - Zak is an adult now. But what if Zak turns out a failure, like me, asks Pervaiz?
