Mani wakes to find Mushtaq at his bedside. Mushtaq is pleased Mani's being allowed home for New Year and insists he stays with him whilst he recuperates. They chat and Mani asks how the café is doing. He says he's been touched by Jodie's concern for him. Mushtaq asks if she's talked about her family to him and seems annoyed when Mani says no.
Mary is at home, getting stuff ready for Mani's welcome home. She gets upset when she can't find the scissors and Pete finds her crying. Mary admits she's really upset over Sean - everything she says seems to make matters worse. Pete tells her she needs think of herself for a bit but Mary refuses - she promised Kamla she'd help.
Khatija rings Nadia from Mirpur. She gently breaks the news to her that they've lost their land for good. She's worried about Pervaiz's health and warns Nadia they'll need to contain their anger in front of him. She asks her to tell Zak and to try keep him calm.
Later, Mushtaq goes to see Jodie. She's surprised to see him and asks him to come back later because it's so busy. Mushtaq says it can't wait and so Jodie ushers him to a table to avoid a scene. He asks her how she can keep lying to Mani and at the same time maintain she cares about him. Jodie argues that she needs to tell Mani in her own time but Mushtaq says that's just being selfish - she wants her revenge and is toying with him. Jodie insists it's not so black and white but Mushtaq won't listen. He's never lied to Mani and he won't lie for her - either she tells him or he will!
