Pradeep is at work. He tells Chunky that Kamla's back and Chunky says he doesn't understand this "going back home" nonsense - everything he needs is right here. Rita enters in a bit of a fluster: Kamla's told her she's staying for good and she doesn't know if she can cope living with her mother again - she's got used to having more freedom. Pradeep reminds Rita how upset she was when Kamla left and tells her to look at the positives - she'll be a help with the kids at least.
Krishan and his friend Anil are carol singing. They sing for Chunky (who gives them some chips), then go to Jodie's and finally to the pub, where Mary and Kamla are getting ready to visit Mani. They discuss his accident and Kamla wonders if young people have any respect nowadays - just look at those car racers. Mary is awkward at the mention of the racing. They hear Krishan singing outside and Mary gives him some money. Kamla tells him to give it back - he shouldn't be doing it for money - but he and Anil make a quick exit.
Later, Jodie is with Mani at the hospital. She asks him about Christmas in Silver Street, then reminisces about the presents her mum used to make her when she was small. Mary and Kamla breeze in, happy because they've just heard the news - Mani will be out for New Year! He needn't worry because they will look after him - they're his family. Jodie gets uncomfortable at the mention of family and excuses herself hurriedly. She's a mystery, says Mani as she disappears...
