Mani is with Mushtaq at his new house in the suburbs, helping him to unload and unpack. Mani tells Mushtaq he's got to stop feeling angry towards his children - the stress isn't good for him. Mani says he shouldn't expect his children to live up to their story - of how they came to England and made something of themselves on their own.
Rita is in the kitchen when Kamla comes in. Rita is relieved - they didn't know where she'd gone and Pradeep is out looking for her. Rita tries to convince her mum that she misheard them when they were talking about her room, but Kamla is still icy with her, and Krishan realises something is wrong.
When Pradeep gets back the whole family go upstairs so that Krishan can unveil his model of his "city of the future". Arun, Jas and Roopa all treat it as a joke and tease him, but Kamla takes a real interest. Krishan shows his Nani Ba her room in their house of the future, but Kamla says she's going to India. Jas and Rita get upset - they realise that Kamla is serious, and doesn't mean to come back.
