The parkSILVER HILL PARK

What's it all about?

The park is right at the heart of the Silver Street community. It's where all the local celebrations and festivals are held and where people gather to make public protests. The central shelter is a general landmark and meeting place for a wide variety of people, from young mums and their children to truanting kids. Now the City Farm is a local attraction with Pradeep's collection of goats, rabbits, chickens, ducks etc.

The annual highlight is the Mela, which has featured guest appearances by big names like Bollywood superstar, John Abraham, as well as all the usual food stalls and music. Last year the big name on stage was music maestro Raghav.

Most likely to see there:

ArunSean - Hanging around the shelter and generally making a nuisance of themselves
Pradeep - Checking on the animals
Roopa - Lazing on the grass or sneaking boyfriends into the City Farm hut

Classic moments:

- Arun getting beaten up by Gary and Saj.
- Chunky eating a kebab on the sidelines when he was supposed to be football training.
- Brian getting pelted with wet sponges in the stocks at the 2005 Mela.

Did you know?

Silverhill Park was the home of 'Birdy Man' a recluse who lived in a disused hut. After his body was found in the canal recently Krishan campaigned to have a bird table erected in his memory.

And another thing...

Sway first laid eyes on Nadia when she was walking through the park and has been smitten with her ever since.
