THE BOXING GYM
What's it all about?
The boxing gym on Silver Street was something of an institution. It brought on some great young fighters over the years - some of whom have even gone on to become professionals - but as memberships dropped, owner Pete Brady got further and further into debt. He had to put it up for auction and new owner, Jai Dattani turned it into a fitness gym. But the gym was just a front for him to launder money. So since the police caught up with him it's been closed.
Who knows what will become of it. Will it stay as a gym or will we see a supermarket or even a lap dancing club open up in it's place? I'm sure the residents will have something to say about that.
