Silver Street comes to Edinburgh mela We took Silver Street to Edinburgh mela this year and had a fun time telling our Scottish friends all about ourselves. Rishi (Producer) and I went along with Jaggy Singh (played by Jay Kiyani), Roopa Chauhan (played by Rakhee Thakrar) and Gary (played by Daniel Hewson). Here's what we got up to.
We talked to a lot of people and most of them had heard of or listened to the BBC Asian Network. We gave away hundreds of Silver Street pens and post-it pads and the budding actors who did a scene on mic with one of our characters got a Silver Street mug too. It was a fun day out and here we share some of our best moments with you....
Our youngest audition There was no age limit at our drama workshops. This cheeky chap couldn't wait to get his hands on a Silver Street script and show us what he could do
One for the ladies? Jaggy Singh proved popular with the ladies all weekend and was never short of people wanting to act out a scene with him. How does he do it?
Expert advice from our teenagers Rakhee and Daniel show other youngsters how to act out an emotional scene for radio. This lady looks like she is taking it all very seriously indeed....
Under the eye of the Producer Silver Street's casting Producer Rishi listens out for any new talent. This budding actress must have been really nervous - and her dad's watching too....
But it's our very last one We had a huge demand for the 'Explore Silver Street' booklet and ran out of supplies in the end. We got a shot of the last one and then we gave it away!
Tired at the end but still smiling By the end of the mela we were exhausted but happy. We had given away everything down to our last pen and discovered lots of talent in the workshops...
To keep up to date with the day to day lives of our characters , listen to Silver Street each weekday at 9.20am or 7.20pm on the BBC Asian Network
