"Yeah, I guess you could say I'm obsessed. It's all I ever wanted to do, play football, right from when I was small. Of course I had all the usual abuse from fans and critics who didn't think I was good enough to be playing, but I just ignored it - I mean you've got to expect that haven't you? Football fans are hardly unbiased, and I'm not going to give up because of them. I always dreamed of making it big - the next David Beckham, with a right foot and lifestyle to match his. That would have been sweet! I wanted to stand on the pitch and hear the crowd chanting my name. I wanted to feel that adulation....
"But Simran put paid to all that when she stabbed me in the leg didn't she. A promising career, up in smoke. I thought the move to the Midlands was going to be my turning point. It was, it just took a wrong turn! I couldn't believe it at first and I have to admit, I didn't take the news well, in fact I went a bit off my head and took it out on Simran and Tina. I thought Simran deserved it though seeing as she put me on the bench forever. I've come to terms with it now though and I'm back in the game thanks to Mushtaq buying Silverhill Rangers. I've had a few run ins with the Manager, Kenny. I'm not exactly his favourite person seeing as I helped put his son away after he beat Kamal up. I did patch up with Darren in Spain recently. Doesn't mean we're best mates or anything but things are definitely better now!
"As for being a dad, I can't believe that I didn't want to know at first. Now, little Kesar is my life, I'd do anything for him...and Simran, well I got the surprise of my life when she popped the question! It's unbelievable that we've managed to put all our troubles behind us and now we're solid. It's great being a proper family at last. And now we have a nice new house as well. It was a bit steep but it's all about family and worth it!" | |
