Passion and Purpose
By: Pramal Lad
As a British born Hindu, I feel proud to have roots and "samskars" or principles from Indian/Vedic times, and the cause of my passion and pride with the country of my origins is a result of an understanding of it, allbeit quite a simple understanding.
I'm also very proud to be British and I love being part of this nation also. However, I do feel that alot of young asians are forgetting their roots... their background.. their country of origin even.. and why? because no-one is presenting it, educating on it, enjoying it,.. which is partly a parental responsibility and community responsibility.
We've got a lot to be proud of... being Indian, I come from the lands that brought the "curry", exotic flavours, the tantalising sweets, colourful bollywood, dance forms such as bharatnatyam and bhangra, spirituality (Hinduism, Buddism and Jainism to name but a few), ways to live life to the max, arts, culture... even the Kama Sutra!
