JUDGES

Read more about our panel of six judges who will be choosing the winning images from the competition.

TOM ANG

Tom is a photographer and author of several books on photography, including the best-selling Digital Photographer's Handbook. He is also a film-maker and presenter and contributed to the BBC Four series A Digital Picture of Britain. Tom was formerly Senior Lecturer in Photographic Practice at the University of Westminster for 12 years, and before that worked as a picture editor and edited photography magazines.

EMILY ALLCHURCH

Emily studied fine art and works as a photo-based artist. She has had solo exhibitions in London and Milan, as well as appearing in group shows across Europe, America and Canada. Emily has been chosen to represent the UK at the international exhibition The Boundary, the Limit, a Look at the City in Reggio Emilia, Italy and was also profiled in A Digital Picture of Britain.

EAMONN McCABE

Eamonn's prolific career as a photographer has secured him many accolades including News Photographer of the Year, Sports Photographer of the Year and Picture Editor of the Year. He works for the Guardian, currently as a portrait photographer specialising in the arts, and was Picture Editor from 1988-2001. In addition, he appears regularly on radio and television, including A Digital Picture of Britain, speaking about photography.

MARK HARRISON

Mark is Creative Director for Arts, BBC Television and has been the force behind landmark series such as A Picture of Britain, The Big Read and How Art Made the World. Mark began his career as a historian, gaining a PhD in History and becoming a Research Fellow at Cambridge University. He then moved into television, working for both the BBC and as an independent producer.

RICHARD WILLIAMS

Richard is the Executive editor for the BBC's factual websites, looking after Science & Nature, History and Religion, as well as the Arts site. He's previously worked as a journalist and a PR consultant in the worlds of science and technology.

RICHARD CABLE

Richard is Editor for both the Arts and History websites at the BBC. In addition, he was a journalist for BBC News Online and has worked for several commercial websites including GQ.
