On Friday 27th February, Dr Punam joined us to discuss ways to address possible side effects from medication.

When receiving new medication from your doctor, consider asking the following questions.

On the medication:

  • What is it for?

  • How does it work?

  • How long does it take to start working?

  • What ways can I tell if it is not working?

And then speak to them about how you should take it:

  • How often do I need to take it?

  • When should I take it?

  • Does it need to be taken with food or water?

  • What should I do if I miss a dose?

Then it's important to get information on the side effects:

  • Does the medication have any side effects?

  • What do I need to do if I get any side effects?

  • Should I stop taking the medication if I experience particular side effects?
