Jacqui Joseph was on the show with her home-crafted Christmas decorations, including a mini Christmas tree and a cute little Gonk. You can add these to your tree or use them to jazz up your gifts, and here's how you make them at home.

If you want to catch up on the item, you can watch it on the iPlayer here.

Supplies needed:

  • Recycled cardboard

  • String, yarn, twine, or ribbon

  • Adhesive, such as a hot glue gun

  • Decorations like pompoms, buttons, beads, and pipe cleaners - anything you have lying around

  • Scissors

Method - Christmas tree:

  • Start by cutting your cardboard into a small triangle - the size depends on how big you want your decoration to be.

  • Make an incision on either side of the base of your triangle to cut out the stump of your tree.

  • If you want to hang your decoration, cut a small bit of ribbon, twine or string and loop it, then glue it onto the back of the cardboard.

  • Apply a thin layer of adhesive to the sides and base of your triangle and begin to wrap the string around the cardboard, going from top to bottom but leaving your stump clear.

  • Apply adhesive to the stump and use a different coloured string to wrap around - this will be your tree trunk.

  • Now it's time to decorate your mini tree! Get creative and add colourful decorations you have lying around - think old buttons, ribbons and pompoms, then hang on your tree or use to decorate your gifts.

Method - Gonk:

  • Start by cutting your cardboard into a small triangle - this will be the base. The size depends on how big you want your decoration to be.

  • Use adhesive on the sides of your triangle and wrap string around from top to bottom.

  • To make the beard, start by cutting a small rectangle out of a different piece of cardboard the same length as the base of your triangle.

  • Then begin wrapping some wool or twine around the cardboard lengthwise until it's bulky. Pull your wool off the cardboard, wrap some twine around the middle and tie a knot, and then chop the wool at the other end.

  • You can then take the wool and give it a brush to fluff out the beard.

  • Stick the beard to the main triangle and your Gonk is nearly complete!

  • All you need now is to find something small and circular for the nose of your Gonk, this could be an old button or the lid of a plastic bottle, and stick it to the top of the beard.

  • Your Gonk is ready to add some festive flare to your home.
