Social tariffs are discounted rates for things like broadband, phone, and even water usage, created for people on lower incomes or receiving specific benefits.

These tariffs usually offer no or low set-up fees, with a stable monthly price, meaning no mid-contract price rises, and the option to leave without penalty if your circumstances change.

For a full list of broadband and phone social tariffs, see Ofcom's page here, external.

For help with your water bills and information on social tariffs and support schemes in England and Wales, see the Consumer Council for Water's page here, external.

If you live in Scotland and need extra support if something goes wrong with your water supply, you can sign up to the Priority Services Register, external. In Northern Ireland, sign up to the Customer Care Register, external.

For help and advice if you're struggling with your energy bills, reach out to the charities LEAP, external and Turn2us, external.
