Peter Snow takes us on a tour of the election night studio, during which he uses bluescreen technology and computer graphics to demonstrate the shifting fortunes of the Liberal Democrats in the run-up to the forthcoming election. In the event, the Liberal Democrats gained an extra 11 seats during the election which represented a 3.7% swing in their favour.

The 2005 general election was Peter Snow's swingometer swansong, as he announced that he would be bowing out of election coverage to concentrate on projects that he regarded as a little more appropriate to his years. He was awarded a CBE for services to broadcasting in 2006.
