Minister of Shipping Ronald Cross recalls the events of the past few days at Dunkirk. He describes the variety of boats within the 'armada' and acknowledges the efforts of those who participated, highlighting a factory in Ramsgate where, within 20 minutes of hearing an appeal for volunteers, men had downed their tools and were sailing into the dangerous waters across the Channel. He also makes reference to the losses, already announced by Churchill, as being small in comparison with the number of men rescued.
