Sir Bobby Charlton talks about his early years in the North East and the three career choices open to a lad from Ashington: the pit, the navy or football. He remembers his playing career at Manchester United, the fateful Munich air crash that claimed so much young footballing talent, and the crowning achievement of a World Cup victory in 1966 with England.

Bobby Charlton came second in the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award in 1958 and again in 1959. In 2008, he received the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Lifetime Achievement Award.
