In this segment from a longer programme, newsreader Nicholas Witchell shows his lighter side as he discusses his love for the children's TV star Edd the Duck. His moving tribute includes clips from other shows that help to illustrate just how versatile the little yellow duck has always been.

The BBC News team had a brief relationship with the Broom Cupboard. As a consequence of the Great Storm of 15 October 1987, the BBC newsroom suffered a power cut and the following morning's news bulletins came from the Broom Cupboard - minus all of the children's drawings, birthday cards and stuffed toys.
