الصينيون يتوجهون الى الاغذية العضوية رغم ارتفاع أسعارها

Today we are looking at the rise of organic food - in China!

Organic food has been popular in Europe and other parts of the world for many years.

As China has got richer more people are asking for organic food to eat.

Rich Chinese people want food which is also safer, as there have been some cases of unsafe food in China in the last few years.

In 2008 milk products for babies was found to be contaminated with toxic chemicals and killed six infants.

Eggs and meat have been found to have pesticides in them, and some shops have been taking cooking oil from the sewers behind restaurants and using it.

Organic food is sometimes labelled as a green food in China, but it does still use some pesticides, and would not be considered organic in Europe.

Another problem China has is that thousands of people are leaving farms and moving to the cities for work.

As a result farmers will need to grow more food or genetically modified crops in order to feed everyone.

The Chinese government is using genetically modified technology, but also encouraging the eating of organic food.

This may help them make money by selling the food, and help the environment too.
