Emma joined in the excitement about flying off to Amsterdam. It wasn’t long before she was thinking about how she might be selling clogs and tulips. Admitting her strengths lay more in business than in sales, Emma’s abrupt form of questioning during the product pitch offended the designers. Having missed out on the higher priced products, Revolution had to work harder in the retail pitch to create revenue. Emma found herself alongside Arjun and Zoe in the Boardroom and was quick to manoeuvre the blame for the team’s failure onto Arjun’s shoulders. Lord Sugar said he had total confidence that Emma would succeed in business, but felt that she had reached the end of her time on Junior Apprentice. Emma became the fifth candidate to be fired.
Taking on the role of Project Manager, Emma was careful to push the point of how important price negotiations with the artists were, although this was ignored by her team. After finding out Revolution had secured Tom Lewis, the artist both teams had pitched for, it looked like her team were in a good position. Despite feeling slightly niggled by Zoe's sales tactics during the exhibition, she still managed to bring her team together and secure £6,005 worth of art sales. Emma received a positive reaction to her management skills from her team mates in the boardroom and Revolution were announced as the winning team.
During this week’s brainstorm session Emma was vocal and pro-active. It was her idea of an “I ‘heart’…” cupcake theme that caught the team’s imagination and had them moving on to the next stage with confidence. Paired with Adam in the kitchen Emma was a positive force, alternating between a firm and an encouraging tone to motivate her unwell and under par teammate. Both Emma and Adam were keen to order up to 800 cupcakes for the challenge, which would have most likely lost them the task. Emma was quick to hold her hands up to this mistake in the boardroom.
In an effort to make team Revolution’s storage/games product lightweight and flexible Emma came up with the idea to make it out of cardboard, albeit “sturdy” cardboard. This choice of material proved to be a significant flaw in the team’s strategy and retailers were quick to spot the flimsy and, most importantly, non-waterproof nature of their camping product. Despite her mistake Emma escaped an invitation back to the boardroom and in Nick Hewer’s opinion got off “scot free”.
After making her reluctance to take the role of project manager quite clear to the rest of the group Emma went on to support nominated leader Hibah throughout the task. Emma chose to speak up in support for Hibah after she highlighted the conflict between herself and Zoe.
Emma has a passion for achieving and believes that “if you make your own bed, you should lie in it”. Selling eggs and sweets to make money, she believes that never giving up and hard work is the key to achieving success.
Come back here each week for an update on Emma's performance on Junior Apprentice.
