Lesson 26 Ah. We got a winner here. I said, we've got to get some different clothes for him; something that would be real sharp - nobody else would have something like this. He said OK, so that's when we started getting together, getting our merchandise together and every time he'd come in, we had something different for him, something sharp, something that nobody else had. You know, I didn't want everybody to be wearing what Elvis had. And the guy was fantastic. Unbelievable. But, he was our PR man for everything he wore. "Where did you get it? Elvis, where do you get your clothes?" "Lansky Brothers in Memphis." Man, I tell you, he was crazy about all this merchandise that we had, I mean real sharp stuff, different stuff, mohair, different shirts, different kinds shirts, different kinds of jackets, we had all kinds of big balloon sleeves, the rolled collar shirt. I showed him how to do that. You know, when you rolled a collar on the back, up on his hair, you know, "I don't want to mess my ducktail." I said, Oh man, don't worry about it, this is something new. And you know, he'd kind of give you that giggle, that laugh and from there, that's when he started going with that turned up collar. |
