Episode 53
Eàirdsidh and Marsaili's quiet chat is really quite innocent. Marsaili has told Eàirdsidh she wants to do something for Sìleas by way of thanks for suggesting the duet which in turn earned Marsaili some much needed cash. Eàirdsidh whispers to Marsaili that he knows just the thing but will reveal nothing more.
He announces that Marsaili and Sìleas should follow him. They all set off at a brisk pace, enjoying the fresh air and the beautiful views. Sìleas is intrigued and Marsaili excited, until they begin to hear some very strange sounds. Unsettled by the noise, Marsaili refuses to walk any further. After much persuasion, Eàirdsidh convinces her to continue.
As the beach comes into view, Marsaili is very glad she carried on. What a wonderful sight! The noise was only that made by the numerous seals which are lazing on the gleaming white sand and swimming in the sea. The girls thank Eàirdsidh for giving them this glimpse of the island wildlife. They watch the seals for a long time but as the sun sets the trio agree they really must move on from Mingulay. Eàirdsidh can offer the girls a lift to Glasgow.
