Steve Catchpole brought this 3lb cannon ball to the BBC Suffolk event at Ipswich Museum on Tuesday, 16 February, 2010.
The item was found on the beach near to Landguard Fort in Felixstowe, Suffolk by his sister and passed onto Steve. The area has always been heavily fortified and it is believed the item dates back from the Dutch invasion.
Landguard Fort has always been an important defence on the east coast and the object serves as a reminder of the last time an armed foreign army managed to set foot on British land.
