These copper ingots were cast in shallow depressions in the ground, hence their bun shape.This ingot was discovered on the bottom of the Menai Strait on Anglesey. Similar copper ingots have been discovered on the island and have been linked to the Roman mining activities at Parys Mountain. This ingot, and a related fragment, were found together, and may indicate the location of a Roman period shipwreck. They were widely transported within the Roman empire and used for metal working and the production of tools and weapons.
