Silver Plated Mustard Pot

This silver plated mustard pot was given to my great-great-great-grandfather by the teachers of a "ragged school" he helped found, on his departure from his job in Wigan in 1858. The inscription on the pot reads: "presented to Rev W Coombs and Mrs Coombs by the teachers and scholars of the Ragged School as a token of their gratitude and respect. Wigan 17th March 1858." He worked in St Catherine's Church in Scholes, Wigan as the first vicar of that church. I think this is special for me and my family because it is interesting to know that one of my ancestors was involved in the Ragged School movement, the beginning of free education for everybody regardless of background and wealth.
