The 6th (Inniskilling) Dragoons is amongst the most famous of all the British Cavalry regime which paricipated in the charge of the Union Brigade at Waterloo. Pictured is a 1834 Inniskilling Dragoons pattern helmet, fully plated in 18kt gold, of Grecian form with crest bearing the detachable "Leaping Lion". Full Royal Coat of Arms emblazoned shield over "Waterloo" in scroll and gilt, floral spray chin scales covering the leather chin strap that secures with unique lion's paws closure hooks. The regiment continued and eventually amalgamated and then converted in mid-twentieth century from horses to armored vehicles

To call an 1834 helmet a Waterloo helmet is clearly a misrepresentation. True it explains the helmet is not actually a relic from the battle. It is a bit misleading if one is seeking a Waterloo artifact. The actual helmet from the battle is much better looking.
