The yacht broke adrift from the tow by her parent boat on passage back across the Atlantic after the 1937 America's Cup races. She was thought to be lost with all the crew and then when she reappeared, having continued under sail, it became national news. The museum has many press cuttings, photos and reports from the time. The piece of the broken tow rope mounted on a board was given to the museum by Jim Mussett of Mersea who was one of the crew of the Endeavour. The museum has oral history recordings of Jim.
