Ice Cream Pail

Precise drawings and illustrations of botanical specimens was a passion for women in the eighteenth century. This plate from the Derby factory is from a large dessert set and each piece has the specimen's name noted on the underside. This pail shows a carnation on one side and a Persian cyclamen on the other. From a large dessert service bought by the young Henrietta Scott, wife of Lord Titchfield, who took over at Welbeck in 1795.
