BBC Radio Suffolk Journalist Jon Wright writes: This hat, with my name woven into the front, was a leaving present after I spent two years teaching at a school in rural Ghana. Decades after independence from Britain, the relationship between former colonies and their 'masters' is sometimes complicated, but at a personal level always friendly and respectful.
The students I taught may have benefited from my maths classes, but my understanding of the causes and the effects of poverty and experience of the barriers to development modern Ghana faces, are issues which I'll draw on throughout my life.
Sunhats such as this one are essential street-wear on the streets of Bolgatanga, but here in Suffolk I tend to only get it out on special occasions.
