World War Two R.A. F. pilot hat

The R.A.F. pilot hat is my grandad's. He was a pilot in World War 2. We also have his smart, blue RAF uniform. These are very important to my family becasue it is one of the few things we have left of my grandad. The hat looks quite protective because it has special ear- muff things so that it protects your ears. It is also designed so that if you fall out the plane, it would protect you more than just a normal hat. It is made from leather mainly. He was based in the Middle East during the war.
