Dylan Thomas Bust by David Slivka

One of five casts sculptured by David Slivka (1914 to 2010), New York, 1953. Presented to the Centre by David Slivka in 2001 at the Dylan Thomas Festival. Slivka and Thomas were both born on 27 October, 1914, and got to know each other in Greenwich Village, New York, in the 1950s. Dylan died at St Vincent's Hospital, on 9 November, 1953. Ibrahim Lassaw worked with Slivka on the original death head, having taken the impression from the recently deceased poet.
